Reading
At Caldershaw, we know how important reading is: not only to enable us to find out about the world and research specific topics, but (most importantly) in giving life long pleasure. Please read your book every night to an adult and record it in your reading record book. A few pages will do, but make sure you understand what you've read and that you can answer the questions you're asked!

Computing
This term in computing we have been practicing our mouse skills. We have completed activities on the computer to drag and drop and also create a picture. We have also practiced typing our names on a keyboard.
Home Challenges
Home challenges are sent home on MONDAY and should be returned the following MONDAY. Children in Year 1 will receive a phonics piece linked to the learning taking place in class that week- and a piece of maths work - again linked to prior learning in class.
Phonics
In Year 1 children continue to be taught phonics using the 'Twinkl Phonics' programme. This is taught daily in small groups according to your child's phonics understanding. Children must be confident with all phases ready for the phonics screening check w/b 9th June 2025.

Knowledge Organisers
This is an example of one of our knowledge organisers. Knowledge organisers are a summary of key facts, vocabulary and essential information that the children need for each unit of work. Please feel free to print them out and encourage your child to consolidate their learning. All the units are listed below.
